SEO means Search Engine Optimisation.
A search engine is a tool like Google, Bing, or Yahoo. People type questions into it, like “Best CPD course for nurses in 2025.”
If your blog shows up high on that list, more people click it.
And if your blog has affiliate links, more clicks = more money.
That’s why we learn SEO: it helps people find your post at the exact time they’re ready to buy.
You don’t need your own website to start blogging. A blog is just a place where you share posts regularly.
Here are options you can use right now:
LinkedIn → post articles in your feed or “LinkedIn Articles.”
Facebook → use your profile, business page, or even groups.
Instagram → share longer captions or use “Instagram Notes.”
Medium → a free blogging platform anyone can use.
Your own website (Google Sites, WordPress, Wix, etc.) — this gives you more control, but it’s not required on day one.
📌 The key: start posting where your audience already hangs out. Later, you can move posts to a website if you want more SEO power.
If you don’t have a website yet, you can still make your posts show up when people search on Google or inside apps like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Here’s how:
Use hashtags like keywords
👉 Example: instead of just writing #life, write #cpdcourses #carecertificate #affiliatemarketing.
Write clear captions
👉 Example: “Looking for the best CPD courses for healthcare workers in 2025? Here are my top picks.”
Add alt text to images
👉 Example: “Table comparing CPD courses for nurses 2025.”
Put your link where it’s easy to click
Instagram → in your bio (or use Linktree).
Facebook/LinkedIn → paste the link directly into the post or comments.
Repeat the keyword in the first lines
👉 Example: “Best CPD courses for care workers in 2025: Care Certificate, Safeguarding, First Aid…”
📍 Think of it like this:
Hashtags = keywords
Captions = blog titles
Alt text = image SEO
Links = CTAs
What Does “Pillar” and “Support” Mean?
Think of your blog like a tree 🌳:
The pillar post is the trunk — big, strong, the main topic.
The supporting posts are the branches — smaller, connected pieces that grow out of the trunk.
Together, they make the tree healthy and noticeable.
Pillar Post (The Big One)
A pillar post is:
A big topic people search for often.
Covers the subject in a wide way.
Example: Best CPD Courses for Healthcare Workers in 2025
It lists many different courses.
It compares them.
It gives a full picture.
👉 This post is your main money post because it attracts the most search traffic.
Supporting Posts (The Smaller Ones)
Supporting posts:
Go deeper into one small part of the big post.
They link back to the pillar post.
Examples:
Care Certificate Review → explains just one course in detail.
Safeguarding vs Mental Health Training → compares two popular courses.
Food Hygiene Course Discount → focuses on a budget option.
Each smaller post has a link back to the pillar:
👉 “Want to see the full list of top CPD courses in 2025? Read our post: Best CPD Courses for Healthcare Workers in 2025.”
Google sees many posts on the same topic → it thinks you’re an expert.
Readers find all the info they need in one place → they stay longer on your site.
More posts = more chances to rank = more affiliate clicks.
📍 So yes — this means you’ll write several posts:
One big pillar post
Several smaller support posts around it
This system works best on websites and blogging platforms (like Google Sites, WordPress, Medium).
👉 On social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram), parts of it still work — but you won’t get the full Google ranking power.
If you have a website/blog → do all 3 steps.
If you only use social media → focus on Step 1 and Step 3 (keywords + on-page conversion).
Not every search means money. Some people are just learning.
👉 Example: “What is CPD?” (not money).
Others are ready to buy.
👉 Example: “Best CPD courses for nurses 2025.” (money).
These are called buyer keywords. They have words like:
Best
Review
Discount
Alternatives
vs
📍 If you use these keywords in your post (website or social media caption), you attract people who are ready to click.
This works best on websites and blogs.
Imagine you’re building a mini-library:
Big post (pillar): Best CPD Courses for Healthcare Workers in 2025
Smaller posts (support): Care Certificate Review, Safeguarding vs Mental Health Training, Food Hygiene Course Discount
When you link them together, Google thinks: “This person knows a lot about CPD courses” and pushes your posts up.
📍 On social media, you can’t “interlink” the same way — but you can link back to your main website or pin a “pillar post” on your profile.
Note :In this section, I am inserting actual links to my website digital product from which you could purchase a course an I could earn money in the course of writing this article.
This works everywhere — website, blog, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram.
Once someone lands on your post, don’t make them guess. Guide them to your affiliate links:
Put a button or link near the top → Start Your Free Care Certificate Module
Add a table/grid to compare courses → Compare All CPD Courses Here
Make an advantages link →Advantages of taking our courses
Add FAQs/Enquiries link to answer doubts → Ask us questions
📍 Even on social media, you can do this with captions, hashtags, images, and links in bio.
✅ So in short:
Websites/blogs = full power of all 3 steps
Social media only = do Steps 1 + 3, and use links wisely
Think of linking like leaving breadcrumbs 🍞 — you’re guiding your reader back to the “big post” (pillar).
Here are 3 easy ways to do it:
Link Inside the Text (Anchor Text)
When you mention the topic in your support post, add a link.
👉 Example (support post = Care Certificate Review):
“The Care Certificate is one of the most popular CPD courses for healthcare workers in 2025.”
Here, the words CPD courses for healthcare workers in 2025 become a clickable link that takes them to your pillar post.
Add a Call-to-Action Box
At the end (or middle) of your support post, add something like:
👉 Want to see how the Care Certificate compares with other training? Read our guide: Best CPD Courses for Healthcare Workers in 2025.
Use Buttons or Graphics
If you’re on a website/blog platform, you can add a button that says:
[See All CPD Courses Here] → linked to your pillar post.
It helps Google: it understands that the pillar post is the “main one.”
It helps readers: they can always find the full list of options.
It helps you: more clicks on the pillar = more affiliate conversions.
📍 Quick Rule:
Every support post should link to the pillar post at least once.
And the pillar post should also link out to its support posts (like a two-way street).
When you finish writing your post, go through this list.
If you can tick everything, you’re good to publish.
☑ Put your keyword in the Title
☑ Put it in the Intro (first 100 words)
☑ Put it in one H2 heading
☑ Put it in the URL (slug)
☑ Put it in the ending/conclusion
☑ Add it to image alt text (the description of your picture)
☑ Add internal links (to your other posts, like your pillar post)
☑ Add external links (to a trusted outside site — Google loves this)
☑ Add a button or link at the top
☑ Add one in the middle
☑ Add one at the end
👉 Example: Start Learning With Us Today
☑ Add at least 2–3 common questions with answers
☑ If possible, use FAQ Schema (some blog platforms allow this → it tells Google your post has FAQs so they can show in search results)
